How
would you describe your ministry?
I am behind the scenes on staff providing administrative
help and a unique variety of other tasks.
It's great getting to work with a lot of talented and awesome volunteers and
staff.
What inspired you to take on this responsibility?
I started volunteering with the Student Ministries at Grace
when my own kids were in the youth group. It has been a real privilege
to now be working with several ministries here.
How long have you been at it?
Since 1999.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Preach the Gospel to yourself every day. (Jack Miller)
What cartoon character do you most identify
with?
Eek The Cat. This was a cartoon series that ran in the 90’s
about a purple, pudgy cat named Eek whose motto was “it never
hurts to help.” This very attitude, though, always did get
him into trouble. Besides, being a serious cat lover, it reminds
me of many impulsive things I have done to "help” that
got me into trouble...like the answer to the next question.
What’s the most exciting (or risky)
thing you’ve ever done?
One of many risky things was when I was about 21. I went to volunteer
at an orphanage in Mexico on the Baja, and was almost broke by the
time I arrived. After I got there, it didn’t really work out
and to make a long story short, ended up on the street in California
one night by myself and had to camp out behind a convenience store.
What are you reading?
I’m very A.D.D. when it comes to books and probably have about
50 in process! I’d rather listen to CDs so I can do at least
two things at once. This month, though, I started reading Beth Moore’s
book “Breaking Free” and doing her incredible Bible
study class “Living Beyond Yourself.”
