Questions
|
1. Paul says, in verse 8, that he did not regret his correction and the grief it caused the Corinithians and yet he also says he did regret it. What do you think that's about? What is the inner struggle that Paul is experiencing?
2. It is clear throughout Paul's letter that he is unafraid to initiate conflict. Do you let fear keep you from speaking the truth or confronting issues in your relationships? What makes him confident in causing conflict?
3. Paul doesn't "delight" in being right. That is not his motivation. What is his motivation and how do you know?
4. What is God's motivation in convicting us of sin or in bringing us to repentance? See Romans 2:4
5. After causing conflict in a relationship, how are you at trusting God to do the work of conviction and restoration?

| Gospel Practice |
This week, when you see an opportunity to "initiate conflict" in a relationship (at work, at home, in the community), try praying first. Ask God to give you a heart for the person and then trust him to use your words (and maybe other means as well) to bring about "godly sorrow that leads to repentance." Also be open to how you might be part of the problem.
