"Living a Balanced Life" - March 1

Where on earth is a woman supposed to find hormonal balance much less a life of love, joy, peace, patience and all the while maintaining a Martha Stewart home, a Gold’s Gym body, a Condi Rice career? And all of these in “godly fashion?” We may not be able to answer all of these questions, but we will strive for a fresh perspective. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, and feature guest speaker Kathy Bailey, interactive discussion and interest groups, and plenty of laughs.

Kathy's Bio

Kathy is a mother of five, Kate (19, a sophomore at King College), Brooke (17, high school senior), Adam (15, high school sophomore), Claire (13, an eight grader), and Anna Ruth (10, a fifth grader) and lives in Charleston, South Carolina, with her husband Craig.

Kathy attended Columbia Bible College and received at B.A. in Missions and Bible Teaching. She taught Bible for five years in Bluefield, West Virginia public schools. She married Craig in 1987 and moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where he attended Columbia International University. Together they pastured Friendship PCA in Princeton, West Virginia for four years where Kathy led women's Bible studies, discipled women individually, led a prayer ministry and was involved in the worship/music ministry of the church.

From 1997 to the present, she and Craig have been church planting in Charleston, South Carolina, where they began Island Community Church which met in a small theater with about 12 families and later became a particularized church of about 100 members. As the Lord continued to grow and mature the congregation, the next step in the church's journey was envisioning a church plant downtown, but as they grew and the Lord led, they discovered that their church model fit well with an urban approach to gospel ministry. The Lord miraculously provided a building for them, rent free for two years in the heart of historic Charleston.

Since December of 2006, the church, now Redeemer PCA, has grown in numbers, development of leadership, and ministry opportunity. "To see this kind of growth has been a tremendous blessing but also a great burden to bear. Our weaknesses and Christ's all-sufficiency have been made very apparent in the wake of this transition; we face a prayerful time of change and sanctification.", Kathy says.

Some ministries Kathy's heart is specifically drawn:
• Training and equipping women in leadership
•Leading a weekly women's bible study
• Forming an essential and core prayer ministry for our church (indispensable during this pivotal time in our church history)
• One on one nurturing of people in our church who need a safe place to be vulnerable and transparent
• Preparing our church to address addiction and sexuality issues within our own congregation so that we are prepared to provide the gospel of deliverance to the community at large
• Hospitality (our home is a revolving door of church family, visitors, neighbors, and the lost !!)
• Missions-member of missions committee and Redeemer's Uganda Project team
