Involvement
"Visions of Grace" meets every Monday night from 6:30-8:30 pm. The first hour the team meets in Rm 147 to discuss and brainstorm future services and events. The second hour the team meets with the other Grace art teams in the auditorium for study and community Anyone with a passion for the visual arts and a desire to serve is welcome to attend. Previous experience is helpful but definitely not necessary. There are many ways to be involved. For more information contact Dusty McNabb by e-mail.

Vision
The use of visual arts (paintings, sculptures, banners, props, staging, graphic arts, posters, bulletins, etc.) is our opportunity to offer a portion of the abilities God has given us back to Him as an artistic offering that can be used for His purpose. The visual arts are used in worship services, outreach events, and throughout the building with the same primary goal; to illustrate Christ’s beauty, and grace. Not "Christian visual arts" but visual arts that reflect truths of the gospel.

Worship Services
In worship services, the visual arts are only one piece of a service designed to lead someone to worship Christ. We strive to produce excellent visual arts that point to Christ. If the art produced only draws attention to itself, we failed. If it leads a person to worship Christ, it was excellent art. Typically, we begin planning the use of visual arts in a service about 2-3 weeks out. We look at the passage and the speaker’s thoughts and then begin to coordinate with the other art teams how the visual arts can be used throughout the building to help illustrate the point and enhance worship(bulletin, banners, posters, etc.). We realize we can not plan for everything. That things will go wrong and only The Holy Spirit can make a worship service effective. However, we are still committed to giving our best because it is a sacrifice to God.

Outreach Events
In outreach events, the visual arts may be the main piece of a theme designed to lead someone to seek Christ. The purpose here is to produce excellent art that may be used by The Holy Spirit to stir someone to consider Christ. Events are a better opportunity to take bigger risks because the focus is not worship The primary art form we focus on for events are art exhibits. We look for other ways to include various visual arts but the exhibits are top priority. We begin brainstorming and selecting these exhibits as far as a year in advance. Our goal is to offer 6 art exhibits a year with one of them being our annual juried art exhibition in April. Each exhibit is then displayed for 6-8 weeks. When considering these exhibits we try to book art that will be consistent with the current outreach event. For example, if the next event is a play based on friendship, we’ll try to coordinate an exhibit that will compliment this theme. The amount of work involved in coordinating the visual arts with outreach, will vary depending on the size and type of event.
